My most memorable across Canada road trip story was a family camping trip in our van. There were 5 of us. Two parents and three kids sleeping and living out of our created mobile home. We were heading to Cranbrook for a well-deserved, relaxing family trip.
During our travels, we stopped at so many picturesque locations with lakes and mountains. One camping spot in Nelson BC will always stay in my mind.
The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the serene campsite. We’d set up a lovely picnic setup and were preparing to stay the night and watch the stars. Little did we know, our idyllic evening was about to take an unexpected turn.
Suddenly, a rustle in the bushes caught our attention. A majestic mama bear accompanied by her playful cubs, emerged from the woods, and decided to claim our campsite as their own. Luckily we had the opportunity to quickly load our equipment into the van and make a speedy exit.
During the chaos, my dad sprang into action. With remarkable speed, he changed the flat tire, all while the carefree bears frolicked just outside.
With the tire changed and everyone safely in the van, we were on our way to a new camping location.
