ICBC has made significant improvements to its claims process to better serve customers across British Columbia. As of February 9, 2025, ICBC expanded its claims team and restructured the way claims are assigned. These updates are designed to improve response times, enhance service quality, and streamline the claims experience for drivers in BC.
A More Efficient Claims Process

The key change in this expansion is how claims will be assigned. Rather than being allocated based on the type of loss, vehicle, or policy type, claims will now be matched to auto claims specialists based on their complexity and level of detail. This means that customers will be connected with an experienced claims professional who has the right expertise for their specific situation.
Despite this shift, the general claims intake process remains unchanged. Customers will continue reporting claims the same way they do today and will still have a dedicated auto claims specialist as their main point of contact throughout the process. This procedure ensures a seamless and supportive experience from start to finish.
What This Means for You
- Faster response times when reporting and processing claims.
- More personalized support from a knowledgeable auto claims specialist.
- A streamlined experience, regardless of the type of loss or policy.
ICBC is committed to providing a smooth transition and ensuring that all customers receive the same level of care and service they expect. If you have any questions about these changes, we encourage you to reach out to ICBC General information 604-661-2800 (lower mainland) or 1-800-663-3051 for the rest of BC.

ICBC’s Updated Claims Reporting Hours
Another important update has come to ICBC’s claims reporting by phone. As of February 23, 2025, customers will be able to report a claim over the phone between 8 am and 8 pm, seven days a week, including statutory holidays.
Call: Lower Mainland 604-520-8222 / Rest of B.C., Canada and the U.S.A. 1-800-910-4222.
This adjustment allows ICBC to focus resources during peak hours, ensuring that customers receive the best possible support when they need it most.
For customers who prefer/need to report a claim outside of these hours, providing a convenient alternative for eligible claims.
ICBC’s commitment to improving customer service is at the heart of these changes. Whether it’s a more efficient claims process or enhanced phone support during peak hours, these updates are designed to make your experience smoother and more reliable.
