Rock the Pacific. Each year Reliance Insurance Agencies organizes a-rockin’ fundraiser to raise money for Bridges to Community Canada. Thanks to the generous donations of our sponsors (see below), the staff of Reliance Insurance, and many insurance industry professionals, the 2019 Rock the Pacific Fundraiser exceeded previous years with $31,000 raised.

The Bridges To Community Canada Story

Bridges to Community Canada (BTCC) was founded in 2006 by a group of Canadian insurance professionals. The mission was to build bridges between the developed world and the developing world. Choosing Nicaragua, the second poorest country in the hemisphere. A plan was developed to raise $750,000 and build 100 houses in and around the Masaya region. The hundredth home was completed in January of 2012.

BTCC completed Vision #2 (2013-2017) to raise $1,000,000 and in partnership with the district of Jinotega in northern Nicaragua, build another 100 houses, 80 latrines, two schools, and several water distribution systems in the communities of El Sasle and El Mojon. Recently, the charity clarified a new vision with the commitment to raise

$1,500,000.00 to support the construction of 100 homes and biodigesters and to launch an exciting new Economic Development Program – this is an exciting new direction and initiative.

The Reliance Insurance Agencies Connection

Jim Ball, the president of Reliance is a founding Bridges board member. Over the years, Jim and his son, Chris (also a member) have made 19 combined trips house and school building trips to Nicaragua, and have raised over $200,000 towards the Bridges vision and goals. Each year, Jim, Chris and Reliance staff work for months to put on a fundraiser that brings the insurance community together for an evening of fun and a fun way to raise money for those in less privileged circumstances.
